English

The English department at Holy Heart offers students the widest program of studies available in English within the province. In addition to all courses in the APEF curriculum, English studies at Heart include the International Baccalaureate Program, Advance Placement Literature 4221 and Novel Cinema 3221. We also offer a Screen Arts at Heart Certificate Program for students who complete a wide-range of curricular and extra-curricular options in film and screen-related courses and projects. The English department also coordinates a yearly Arts Awards banquet, which celebrates student achievement in writing, debating, art, film, music, theatre, public speaking, and dance. Every opportunity is given to students at Holy Heart to showcase their talents and interests through performance and public readings. Our Screen Arts at Heart Film Festival is an annual event, now in its 4th year, which celebrates student-made film and is the only high school administered festival of its kind in the country.

During the 2004 – 2005 school year, thirteen teachers offered courses in literature, theatre and film studies at Holy Heart High School.
